How to Get Signed on Sound Avenue or Our Sublabels?
Here’s a guide to help you navigate this journey!
Getting your music signed on Sound Avenue or one of our sublabels isn't just about having a great track—it's about understanding the process and standing out from the crowd.
Here’s a guide to help you navigate this journey:
1. The Right Introduction Matters: Start with a short, concise email. Include a private Soundcloud link to your track. Let us know where you're from, whether you have previous releases, and if this is your first release. Also, specify which label you’re targeting—Sound Avenue or one of our sublabels. This clarity helps us understand your intent and place your music.
2. Finish Your Track Before Sending: We want to hear your music at its best, not a work in progress. Ensure your track is fully finished before sending it over. A temporary self-master or setting the track at 0dB is ideal. It’s tough to judge a demo’s potential when it’s still raw or unfinished. Remember, you can always send a pre-master if your track is signed.
3. Label Your Track Properly: Believe it or not, we receive many demos labeled as “ID - ID.” Make sure your track has a proper title. It shows professionalism and attention to detail—qualities we value highly.
4. Do Your Homework: It’s surprising how many artists send demos without having listened to the music of the label they’re submitting to. Make sure you understand our sound and style. Research is key. If your music doesn’t align with what we’re currently signing, it’s less likely to be a fit.
5. Be Patient and Respectful: We receive between 50 to 100 demos every week. It can take us up to 1-2 weeks to review submissions. Patience is essential. If we suggest releasing on a sublabel like Future Avenue, trust there’s a reason. Maybe our release schedule on Sound Avenue or 3rd Avenue is packed, or your music fits better elsewhere.
6. Accept Feedback Gracefully: If you receive feedback suggesting a sublabel, don’t argue or push back by saying, “I can wait.” Understand that when we propose a sublabel, we have a good reason. We have to reject 99% of the demos for our main labels. Respect our decision and either accept the offer or move on—no hard feelings. Remember, persistence pays off. Some artists sent demos for years before finally getting signed to Sound Avenue.
Every step in this process is a learning opportunity. Take feedback constructively, continue improving, and most importantly, keep creating. Your music could be the next big release we’re looking for.
